2017 SPRING

Enda O’Sullivan has passed away during
her sleep at her home in Ireland on March 5, 2017.
Enda was a good friend and had an apartment in the same Medjugorje building as we had.
Enda would donate to our poorer Medjugorje families and would bring them gifts from Ireland.
Strong in faith, Enda tried to attend two Holy Masses a day because of a promise she had made to our Blessed Mother.
We will miss Enda.

Our  newest family; Andja (mother (55)), daughter Ana (15), son (Joseph (19), grandmother Ana (86).
Father is gone. Grandmother receives ($180 a month), rent is $80 a month.
Andja now works seasonally as a fruit picker.
Ana is in a nursing curriculum in Mostar; their former home town.
Help has been found for this family and for Ana’s education for a year.

Maja has taken a summer time job at Konzum Grocery Store at an island off the coast of Croatia.
Looks like Maja is really enjoying the “day off”!

Parts of Dijena and Zeljko’s home were never finished, let alone insulated.  This winter was particularly cold with extended periods of below freezing temperatures. Pipes and even the water heater froze.  The family has lived with little heat resulting in sickness and allergies flaring up.
Funds have been found to “finish the building”.
Here the couple smiles during the remodel job.

Archbishop Hoser Celebrates Mass in Medjugorje!

On April 1st, the whole parish of Medjugorje could witness an exceptional event!  After almost 36 years of apparitions, the special envoy of the Pope, Archbishop Hoser, has celebrated the international evening mass at St. James!

Archbishop Hoser’s homily included:
“The greatest miracle of Medjugorje are the Confessions here. The Sacrament of Reconciliation and Mercy and forgiveness. It is the Sacrament of Resurrection and I want to thank all of the Priests, who come to hear confessions of the faithful. I have seen today over 60 Priests at disposal for confession, serving people of God”.

Vatican City, Apr 2, 2017 / 01:24 am (CNA/EWTN News).-

On Saturday, Pope Francis moved the responsibility for Catholic shrines to be under the Congregation for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, “stating that shrines, as sacred places, are especially suitable to conversion and the strengthening of faith”.

The Vatican Insider Magazine writes that “the Medjugorje commission led by Cardinal Camillo Ruini wants to repeal the ban on Church organised pilgrimages to Medjugorje. It further asked to place Medjugorje directly under the authority of the Holy See and to transform the local parish-church into a Pontifical Shrine”.
pic taken in Medjugorje.

Hopes are raised that Medjugorje will be the site of a major shrine.
Hopes are also raised that  Medjugorje may already be raising funds for such a huge project!
If Medjugorje is to have a “papal shrine” then governance would come from the Vatican meaning that popes could visit anytime without needing an invitation from the local Bishop.
The picture is of the approved Marian Shrine at Kibeho, Africa where seers reported visitations of our Blessed Mother also starting in 1981.

In England the palm Sunday procession through Harefield gets ready to leave St. Paul”s Church. Our friend, Fr. Jim Mulligan poses with Mikey the donkey.
Well done, Father!

Matthew has done wonderful things with many disadvantaged families in the outskirts of Mostar.
We were able to find funding for firewood for two of “his” families.

proj. 19/2018

Matthew has now inquired whether we could help with  “lunch money” for 2 “special needs” girls.
proj. 13/2018

We hear from Matthew;  he manages a “limb replacement clinic” outside Medjugorje (“MIRACLES” in Mostar).
Matthew tells us: “this is a pic of one of our patients, Azra.  She has had her leg amputated at age 19 due to cancer. We provided her with a limb and support through University but the cancer has returned, this time to the base of her spine, poor thing, hence the wheel chair.  Azra is getting treatment but needs medicine which we have to get from Croatia (not available in Bosnia). It costs approximately $45.00).  Is that something you can help with ? We need to get some more but don’t know yet how many times maybe three of four”.

proj. 19/2018

Matthew continues: “Also a young man, aged 25, an orphan (father died before the war, mother during it). His name is Arnel. He lived with his aunt until recently.  He is now married and they have a baby boy (7 months) living in Mostar. I’m trying to get him a second hand car as he has a genuine job offer doing deliveries for a local firm- is that something you could contribute to?”

Ana Beljo has emailed us from Medjugorje to give thanks that she has passed Driver’s Ed and now has a valid drivers License.
Ana writes that “I will remember this for all the rest of my life”.
Ana now has a path to improve her life and the lives of her family.
Driver’s Ed and the Licensing costs around $1000.00.   It can be a tremendous asset for a young driver; especially the girls.

 THE HOLY ROSARY IN BRAILLE!
Back in North Port, FL at one of the local nursing homes which we visit each week and pray a group Rosary, a blind resident has asked whether the Holy Rosary in Braille is available.
We Googled but could not find a book “ready made” so we ordered the prayers to be translated and to be put into a book form and we now have same!
Do you have a need for this?
Our cost for setup & binding was $60 for 3.  You could now probably buy ‘singles.

Darren at the Blue Cross to give thanks for his healing 1 year ago today.

On this date last year, Darren and his Mum, Catherine, went to Mirjana’s apparition.  Our Blessed Mother gave Darren through Mirjana a Wrist Rosary;  that set Darren on the path of healing. Now it is proper to give thanks to God through that intercession of Mary.

Ivan & Marina received two goats last year; that herd has increased to eight!

THE SEASON TO SHARE

Ivan & Marina want to donate two of their adult goats to the widow Beljo; would we approve?
Of course we do.

Widow Beljo has built a manger for the new goats and really welcomes all!
We are asked for help for Marko, Vesna  & family in Croatia.  We verify the need and the family and promise to look for help.  Marko, the husband, has a brain tumor and is house bound.  They have four sons (Bone, Anthony, Aloysius and Andrew); with Andrew starting pre-kindergarten this year all four will be in school.

Marko says that his biggest problem is to buy firewood for the winter, school lunches & books for the new school year.
